The Durst Organization, founded in 1915 by Joseph Durst, is the owner, manager and builder of 13 million square feet of premiere Manhattan office towers and 1,250 units of residential rental housing. The Durst Organization is the managing partner of the 3 million square foot office tower responsible for tenant fit-out, leasing and property management. The Durst Organization is currently building two mixed-use residential buildings. 855 Avenue of the Americas is a 570,000 square foot residential rental tower above an office and retail base and W57th Street is a 709 unit rental building above 45,000 square feet of retail. Both projects are slated for completion in 2015.

Overview

The Network Engineer acts in both computer analyst and programming perspectives, where he/she assists in the determination of the hardware and software functional specifications and the installation, documentation, testing, rollout and support of those switching and security platforms. The successful candidate must be familiar with multiple firewall and switch platforms and supports both the network infrastructure and the local user base through projects and help desk ticket assignments. 

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and configure Paloalto networks firewall(s)
  • Manage creation and execution of security policies
  • Analyze, identify and remediate web based threat
  • Provide timely software/firmware updates while maintaining firewall infrastructure
  • Coordinate after hours changes with various departments
  • Monitor and analyze administrator, event, application and system logs for security systems and taking appropriate action based on these logs
  • Analyze network security needs that contribute to design, integration, and installation of security products
  • Create and perform End to End Test Plan to ensure connectivity, routing, and automatic failover working as designed
  • Monitor and analyze perimeter security systems such as intrusion detection
  • Manage router/switch Cisco configuration templates for newly deployed devices.
  • Create detailed documentation and Visio diagrams for security related infrastructure
  • Collaborate on IT projects at the discretion of the Company
  • Liaise with contracted services for the support of various data center equipment and exterior offices (i.e. CDI/EMC)
  • Serve as project manager for new construction and Project manager for Network infrastructure design and new Leasing Offices. Work with Construction Managers to review plans and specs on MDF and IDF closets Liaise with contracted services for the support of various data center equipment and exterior offices (i.e. CDI/EMC)
  • Respond to assigned Help Desk Tickets to support network or user needs as necessary
  • Support two factor authentication system

Qualifications

  • 4 year accredited college degree - Information Services or other relevant major
  • 2-4 years of IT experience
  • Knowledge of LAN, WAN, VMWare, Backups, VPN.
  • Mobile Devices, VOIP telephone systems, OWA/ DUO -Two Factor Authorization
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Able to interact effectively with diverse personas
  • Able to work independently and in team settings
  • Able to organize schedules, projects, set priorities and maintain functional work environment.
  • Effective oral and written communication. Writes and speaks in a clear, concise manner, actively listens and seeks clarification as necessary
