The Durst Organization, founded in 1915 by Joseph Durst, is the owner, manager and builder of 13 million square feet of premiere Manhattan office towers and 1,250 units of residential rental housing. The Durst Organization built the most environmentally advanced skyscraper in the United States, the 2.1 million square foot LEED Platinum Bank of America Tower at One Bryant Park. The Organization is recognized as a world leader in the development of high-performance and environmentally advanced commercial and residential properties.

The Durst Organization is the joint venture and equity partner of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey in the development of One World Trade Center, the Western Hemisphere’s tallest building. The Durst Organization is the managing partner of the 3 million square foot office tower responsible for tenant fit-out, leasing and property management. The Durst Organization is currently building two mixed-use residential buildings. 855 Avenue of the Americas is a 570,000 square foot residential rental tower above an office and retail base and W57th Street is a 709 unit rental building above 45,000 square feet of retail. Both projects are slated for completion in 2015.

Overview

Porter candidate will create a positive experience by providing outstanding customer service to building residents, guests, and prospects. Candidate will ensure that the lobby, entry ways, common areas, and hallways are clean and well organized at all times. Responsibilities will also include maintenance support in the apartment community and being accountable for helping the company deliver on our resident commitments of exceptional move-in, residential satisfaction, express service, and personal attention.

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily property maintenance and cleaning projects throughout the building as assigned.
  • Maintain an excellent customer service relationship by adhering to the Durst Residential customer service standards.
  • Adhere to the Durst Residential Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Contact emergency services in the event of a fire or other incident requiring fire, medical, or police attention.
  • Knowledge of building systems such as HVAC, basic carpentry, electrical, and plumbing with the appropriate skillset to assist in maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Proficient with OSHA regulations.
  • Assist in supervising contractors and vendors on site; keeping the building clean and organized is paramount.
  • Ensure building grounds and common areas are cleaned according to company standards.
  • Keep accurate and organized supplies and supply lists – place orders when necessary.
  • Must communicate well with building residents and maintain high level of customer service.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Property Manager.

Qualifications

No specific level of education is required. However, for safety and productivity reasons, the position requires the ability to effectively read and write English.

 

  • 3 + years porter/handyman experience.
  • Position requires the ability to work any of the seven days of the week, 52 weeks of the year. Due to community staffing limitations, it is extremely critical that individuals be able to work their scheduled hours on a consistent basis and, if necessary, overtime hours when requested.
