Overview

The Compliance Coordinator position is primarily responsible for the qualification of new residents for occupancy and the annual recertification of existing residents as it relates to Low Income Housing Tax Credit, Rent Stabilization, Affirmative Fair Housing, and State and City program agency guidelines. This role requires great organization, attention to detail and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial qualification of applicants to vacant apartments in the affordable portfolio
  • Manage recertification process of existing residents
  • Maintain property waiting list
  • Conduct applicant interviews and determine eligibility
  • Coordinate on-site data collections and processing of resident information
  • Schedule resident recertification interviews
  • Insure proper calculation of income, assets, rent levels, etc.
  • Conduct annual apartment inspections
  • Oversee lease renewal process
  • Maintain resident files in accordance with company policy & regulatory agency policy
  • Generate and review lease renewal and initial leases to ensure rent stabilization and tax credit guidelines are met
  • Assist residents and applicants with inquiries and questions regarding LIHTC program compliance and affordable housing availability
  • Coordinate rent-up and lease renewals between City and State housing agencies and subsidized residents
  • Oversee resident operational matters, including but not limited to: move in/out, arrears, account standing, lease violations, legal, and serve as a liaison between resident and management department
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Qualifications

    • 2+ years' experience in a position with similar responsibilities
    • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, MRI, etc.
    • Excellent communication skills both written and orally
    • Strong Knowledge base in LIHTC, Rent Stabilization Code, DHCR and HPD
    • Licenses/Certifications: COS, SCS, or TaCCs
    • Ability to perform multiple tasks on an ongoing basis
    • Able to work independently and in team settings
    • Able to interact with diverse personas
    • Bilingual Spanish/English (preferred)
