  • Overview

    With direction from the Dockhand Supervisor or Marina Business Manager, the dockhand is Responsible for supporting the effective administration of policies and procedures that promote a well-managed Marina. A dock hand will interact directly marina customers, identify and report dock maintenance issues, complete maintenance and janitorial tasks on the floating dock system and occasionally assists in the Marina Business Office. In this position, a dock hand exercises independent judgment and discretion within the framework of Company policies and procedures and management directives.  

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in the day-to-day operation of the Marina consistent with Company policies and procedures.
    • Support tenant-focused relationship programs and processes that meet or exceed Marina member expectations.
    • Anticipate Member needs, assure positive and prompt response to service requests.
    • Ensure completion of minor assigned Marina related maintenance tasks on the floating dock system.
    • Interactions with Marina members, particularly on weekends. Inquire into their requirements and requests and ensure that they are met when possible or forwarded to higher management for resolution.
    • Promote safe boat operations in the Marina.
    • Assist boaters in getting underway, docking, fueling and other situations as required
    • Respond to emergency situations in the Marina, applying all safety training responses.
    • Support risk management efforts to minimize exposure and losses.
    • Effectively liaise with other PMC departments to maximize customer satisfaction and to keep entire PMC organization informed of issues presented by Marina slipholders/tenants.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or equivalent from accredited source.
    • Willingness to obtain PA boat safety certificate within one months of hire.
    • Experience with direct customer service.
    • Familiarity with yachts/boats.
    • When hired or promoted into the Dockhand position, new hired employee must acquire a basic practitioner’s knowledge to the Company’s satisfaction within the first one months on the job.
