    Overview

     

    The Certification Specialist will work with the Compliance Team within the Residential Leasing and Operations Department. This position provides administrative support relating to all aspects of occupancy and is predominately responsible for the qualification of new residents and the annual recertification process in accordance to governing agency guidelines. This responsibility requires organization and great attention to detail.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Schedule and conduct applicant interviews
    • Request third party verifications and run/review background check for applicants
    • Ensure proper calculation of income, assets, rent levels, etc. and determine eligibility
    • Prepare initial certification and supporting documents for LIHTC
    • Prepare and submit applicant files to applicable monitoring agencies for approval
    • Assist with maintaining property log and waiting list
    • Coordinate unit showings and apartment inspections with applicants and building personnel
    • Maintain resident files in accordance with company policy & regulatory agency policy
    • Assist in answering and tracking phone calls, mail, and email
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • 2-3 years affordable housing related or business experience
    • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple tasks
    • Ability to work independently and in a team setting
    • Posses high level of attention to detail
    • Effective oral and written communication
    • Maintains a professional demeaner
    • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
