Overview

The Security Officer will work closely with Security Team Leaders to maintain a safe and secure environment for our employees, tenants, and visitors. We are currently looking for Officers to work either the 7:00am-3:00pm or the 3:00pm-11:00pm shift. Work Schedule and days off to be determined.

Current pay rate is $20.20 per hour. Additionally, this position would be eligible for overtime for all hours actually worked, consistent with the Local 32BJ Collective Bargaining Agreement. The overtime rate is $30.30 per hour.  Please note that wages are subject to tax withholdings and other applicable deductions.

 

Responsibilities

• Security Officers will be required to execute a number of comprehensive and integrated security measures and countermeasures and must be able to adapt physically to the changing needs and priorities of the Security Department.
• Security posts will vary and may include exposure to varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
  • Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.
  • Must possess agility, and visual and auditory acuity to perform the essential responsibilities of this position
  • Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate calmly, effectively, and courteously in both emergency and non- emergency situations
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, typically for the duration of an 8-hour shift
  • Must have a technical aptitude and willingness to learn how to perform security x-ray and screening procedure and use required equipment
  • Knowledgeable and ability to use x-ray image recognition, Magnetometer alarm resolution, and related technologies preferred

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Successful candidates will have earned their high school diplomas or equivalent. College level course coursework is a plus
  • Must possess a valid New York State Security Guard License (8 & 16 hours)
